WYHA Families -- Help needed for disabled hockey initiative
by posted 09/03/2017

Hi WYHA Families (current and past)

My name is Caeley Smith and I am going to be a junior this year at Taft.  I play for the varsity team there and for our WYHA Ct Junior Eagles. In affiliation with Watertown, I am starting my own program for children with disabilities. They will be ages 5 to 16. My goal is to make this program as affordable as possible for these families so I want to run an equipment drive for these children. I am accepting all used gear that you have. As of right now, the most important gear for the kids to get started are:

1. Helmets
2. Skates
3. Shin guards
4. Elbow pads
5. Hockey bags

We also need all of the other gear as well including:

1.  Sticks
2.  Shoulder pads
3.  Socks & Jerseys
4.  Pants/Girdles/Shells
5.  Gloves

Ideally I would like to host the equipment drive on a Sunday in September but the date and time is still to be determined. We will also coordinate it in conjunction with WYHA practices at Taft. More information on collection dates will follow.  If you do not have any equipment to donate but you would still like to help out the program I am working out price negotiations with equipment dealers in the area so you could donate money that would go to purchasing either new sets of gear or important pieces directly to the kids. Additionally, if you know any families with children who have special needs please send them my information because I would love to have as many kids as possible this first year. If you have any questions,  or would like to pass this information on to people my number is (914) 552-7443 and my email is 127smith.c@gmail.com
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Caeley Smith
